Take Control Of You!
By Bill Sex
Whether you are running your own business or simply working for
somebody else, it’s understandable if you feel overwhelmed by the
push for financial success at the cost of great personal sacrifice.
You want to provide for your family, advance your career and be
the best at what you do. But, if you are burning the candle at both
ends and unhappy, what can be done?
Step 1 - Awareness
The first place to start is to recognize that you have a
challenge and wish to do something about it. Once you
embrace the idea that there is a better way, your mind
becomes open to the possibility and opportunities will
present themselves.
Step 2 - Choice
When you recognize that something needs to change you must
accept that new choices require priorities to be established and
decisions to be made that will affect your future.
Step 3 - Action
•Prioritize activities. Develop a list of what needs to be done and
apply a rating scale to each of these. 1 would represent something
you must do, 2 would be good to do, and 3 would be something to
do when all 1’s and 2’s are complete. Avoid doing things just
because they are easy. Discipline yourself with this.
•Focus on what matters. Pondering over past events can sap your
emotional energy. Focus on what you can impact — the present
and future.
•Seek help. Seek out ways to ask for help through your work
colleagues, family or friends where their talents can get recognized
while helping you.
•Enjoy the ride. What are you good at and most enjoy doing? This is
where the bulk of your positive energy and accomplishments will
emerge from.
Every journey starts with one small step.
The only one that is stopping you from
achieving what you want is YOU!
